چکیده
Introduction: Identification and recognition of the of critical importance when considering emergency procedures. Therefore, the present cadaveric study was undertaken to identify the CV in the deltopectoral groove and its termination in the axillary vein with respect to the relevant anatomical landmarks. Material and methods: The length of the CV was taken from the lowest limit of the deltopect groove to its draining point into the axillary vein. The coracoid process (CP), first costo junction (CCJ) and the midclavicular point (MCP) were used as the landmarks and their distances from the drainage point of CV into the axillary vein were measured. Results: In all cadavers, the CV traversed the deltopectoral groove and terminated into the axillary vein. The mean length of the CV was 15.46 sternoclavicular joint, midclavicular point, first costo were 8.26 ± 0.99 cm, 3.51 ± 0.8 cm, 5.66 Conclusion: The present anatomical study describes the location of cephalic vein in relation to the anatomical landmarks which would be commonly used in the intervention procedures in this region.

The clinical anatomy of the cephalic vein in the deltopectoral triangle.
Identification and recognition of the cephalic vein in the deltopectoral triangle is of critical importance when considering emergency catheterization procedures. The aim of our study was to conduct a cadaveric study to access data regarding the topography and the distribution patterns of the cephalic vein as it relates to the deltopectoral triangle. One hundred formalin fixed cadavers were exa...
متن کاملAnatomical variations of the deltoid artery: relevance to the deltopectoral approach to the shoulder.
Despite the expansion of arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, the open deltopectoral approach to the shoulder is still frequently used, for example in fracture fixation and shoulder replacement. However, it is sometimes accompanied by unexpected bleeding. The cephalic vein is the landmark for the deltopectoral interval, yet its intimate relationship with the deltoid artery, and the anatomical ...
متن کاملVariation of the cephalic and basilic veins: A case report
Cephalic and basilic veins begin their path from around the wrist and continue towards the area above the forearm. The basilic vein becomes deep around the mid-arm, while the cephalic vein becomes deep around the upper forearm, in deltopectoral groove. The superficial veins are most commonly used for vein puncture, transfusion, bypass graft, and cardiac catheterization. In renal patients, the b...

An entry vessel is crucial for intravenous port implantation. A safe alternative entry vessel that can be easily explored is crucial for patients without feasible cephalic vein or for those who need port reimplantation because of disease relapse. In this study, we tried to analyze the safety and feasibility of catheter implantation via the deltoid branch of the thoracoacromial vein. From March ...

The knowledge of variations in the superficial veins is of clinical importance for the anatomist, radiologists, clinical practitioners and surgeons in order to plan about the operative procedures. Usually cephalic vein drains into the axillary vein. In this case report study the left cephalic vein communicates with the left external jugular vein and made a common trunk at th...
